报告摘要:

In this presentation, I will give an overview of some our recent progress in making nanoparticles in relation to electrochemical conversion of sustainable energy [1]. In the first case it will be used to elucidate size dependence and efficiency for catalysts related to the Water splitting i.e.  Hydrogen- and in particular Oxygen-evolution reaction (OER) which is the limiting reaction and evaluate the scalability of scarce and expensive elements like the Pt-group metal under acidic conditions [2-4]. We shall discuss caveats of testing catalysts for water splitting [4] and investigate size dependence and isotope labelled experiments will be presented for NiFe nanoparticles for oxygen evolution under alkaline conditions [5]. Here we shall demonstrate a new principle for dynamic detection of gas evolution [6] allowing for a clear distinction between redox states and actual OER [7]. The same principles will be used to demonstrate investigation of conversion of CO or CO2 into valuable fuels and chemical electrocatalysis [8-12]. I shall also touch upon electrochemical ammonia productions – facts or dreams [13].  Finally, I shall show how we by electrifying very energy intensive processes such as the steam reforming process can start reducing the CO2 emission [14].

报告人简介:

IbChorkendorff于1985年获丹麦欧登塞大学博士学位,1986-1987年在美国匹兹堡大学做博士后研究,1999年晋升为丹麦技术大学教授,2018年入选丹麦皇家科学院和文学院院士,现担任可持续燃料化学研究中心(VILLUM)主任。研究兴趣主要集中在与多相催化、电催化和光催化相关的表面科学,Science, Nat.Mater., Nat.Chem., JACS,Angew等国际学术期刊发表300多篇研究论文,并担任Energy &Environmental Science, ACS Energy Letters, ChemCatChem, ChemElecrtoChem等杂志编委。
